Ghoulish CNN Exploits Herman Cain's Death to Attack President Trump

On Friday morning’s New Day, CNN co-host Alisyn Camerota and guest host Jim Sciutto brought on New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman to take ghoulish shots at President Trump over the death of former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain due to coronavirus. Proving that nothing is sacred to the partisan hacks at CNN, Camerota nastily asked if there is “any feeling inside the White House of responsibility, of guilt, of connection” to the death, since Cain attended Trump’s Tulsa rally last month. 

Camerota began the nauseating discussion by trying to blame Trump for Cain’s death:

CNN hosts Alisyn Camerota and John Berman were ecstatic on Wednesday’s New Day by what they deemed increased enthusiasm for Joe Biden from ex-Trump voters. Camerota sat down with three Trump supporters and three alleged former Trump voters who now say they won’t for the the president again, in a two-part interview that aired Tuesday and Wednesday morning. 

But instead of moderating the discussion, Camerota showed her bias by singling out and badgering the pro-Trump voters and conversely, encouraging the anti-Trumpers to talk up Joe Biden and bash President Trump.

On Friday’s New Day, CNN co-host Alisyn Camerota and fill-in Jim Sciutto brought on the host of United Shades of America, W. Kamau Bell to spout woke talking points. Bell went on a tear against white people, insisting that “white supremacy is a system that promotes whiteness.” He also claimed that the Black Panthers and Black Lives Matter are “mainstream” groups and praised Democratic politicians such as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for working “against the interests of white folks.” Per typical CNN, Scuitto and Bell began by bashing President Trump:

The hacks accused Trump of politicizing coronavirus, but then politicized it throughout the segment. Navarro went on an insane rant where she blamed Trump “supporters” for spreading COVID.

CNN Brands President Trump a Hypocrite for Not Attending Church on Sunday

A president can be an ardent defender of religious freedom without being overtly devout himself. But that didn't stop CNN from branding President Trump a hypocrite for having not attended church this weekend while having recently promoted the re-opening of houses of worship.

Here's how New Day co-host Alisyn Camerota teed up CNN senior political analyst John Avlon this morning:

"Over the past week [Trump’s] been very interested in churches. Very interested in churches reopening . . . But then yesterday he didn’t go to church. He played golf. So how do we process that?"

Avlon was only too happy to play along:

"Just more of the do as I say, not as I do presidency. It shows how he uses — he’s willing to use religion as a political weapon but not walk the walk."

Wrong! The First Amendment forbids Congress from making laws "prohibiting the free exercise" of religion. And it was in that spirit that President Trump deemed houses of worship essential, thus qualifying them to reopen. But it actually would fly in the face of the First Amendment for a president to instruct, let alone order, citizens to attend church. And President Trump did not do so.

The free exercise of religion also implies the right not to practice one. And so, contrary to Avlon's claim, there was no "walk to walk." There was nothing hypocritical about President Trump choosing not to attend church over the weekend. For CNN to suggest otherwise reflects a misunderstanding of the Constitution, and represents an inappropriate meddling in the personal life and faith of a president.
